Our Green Status

Annual kwh for 2008 = 12,697 (from 12/18/07 to 1/21/09); averages out to 34 kwh a day

Outside Stats since we moved in: 8 trees added (3 died and are gone) - of the 5 remaining trees, 4 are fruit trees: 2 dwarf apple trees and are 2 cherry trees; Berry Plants added (and surviving/producing): 2 blueberry bushes, 1 blackberry bush, 2 black raspberry bushes, and several strawberry plants; 1 "large garden" added in the back yard, where we produce tomatoes, peppers, carrots, beans, squash, basil, and peas so far; In the beds up front we now grow: celery, broccoli (2 varieties - hopefully will produce this year), carrots (cosmic purple, davers 1/2 long, and chantenay red), all of our lettuce and mustard greens, oregano, dill, and thyme - we also have planted new flower beds along the fence we put in fall 2007 as a buffer for pollutants between the busy road and our food; "Side Gardens" now have as a constant: sage, Spice Islands Rosemary, and several smaller rosemary and lavender plants - they have also produced pumpkins, onions, and squash - this year we've planted corn and are keeping our fingers crossed!; finally, this spring we also changed our front fountain to solar powered only, and added a pond that is solar powered only as well - in the pond we have 2 fish, some oxygenating grass, a hardy water lily (Sioux), and bamboo grass, that the dogs have eaten down. We're working on using grey water and/or collected rainwater to water all gardens. (To date as of 5/27/08)
